A Year of Diversity and Breakthroughs
The 2022 season was an exceptionally varied and successful year for Rinaldi Racing, during which the team expanded its activities across several major international racing platforms while also establishing a strong presence in new areas.
Building on the experiences of previous years, Rinaldi Racing returned to the Asian Le Mans Series, competing both in GT3 and LMP3 cars. Consistent performances throughout the championship earned the team third place in both the overall GT standings and the LMP3 classification, further highlighting the team’s versatility and competitiveness.
Rinaldi Racing made its debut in the European Le Mans Series and achieved an outstanding result at the first race at Paul Ricard: the Ferrari 488 GTE secured pole position, and over the course of the race, the team went on to claim an impressive victory in the LMGTE class. This debut triumph in the ELMS marked a major sporting breakthrough and demonstrated that Rinaldi Racing can compete at the highest level not only in prototypes but also in the GTE category.
The team was also active in the popular 24H Series. In collaboration with WTM Racing, Rinaldi Racing took part in endurance classics, including a spectacular performance at the 12 Hours of Spa, where the team earned pole position and finished a strong third overall, as well as at the 24 Hours of Barcelona, where the squad achieved a notable victory. These results highlighted the team’s strength in endurance racing and the effectiveness of cross-series collaboration.
Another pillar of the 2022 programme was the team’s participation in the newly established Prototype Cup Germany, a national LMP3 series. Rinaldi Racing quickly made its mark, securing multiple podiums and victories, including wins at the Hockenheimring. These results demonstrated not only the performance potential of the Duqueine D08 vehicles but also the team’s adaptability to different racing formats.
A further highlight of 2022 was Rinaldi Racing’s return to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Following its debut the previous year, the team competed this time in cooperation with Iron Lynx at the Sarthe. The entry represented not only a major sporting challenge at the highest level but also the successful continuation of the team’s development toward the pinnacle of endurance racing.
Overall, 2022 was a year in which Rinaldi Racing successfully expanded its programme and made its mark across multiple sporting arenas. Success in Asia, a victory in the ELMS, top results in the 24H Series, and strong performances in the Prototype Cup Germany demonstrated the breadth and strength of the team, providing a solid foundation for future challenges in international motorsport.
