Last weekend, Rinaldi Racing participated in the third run of the Blancpain Sprint Series to Zolder in Belgium. Alexander Mattschull and Daniel Keilwitz started in the ProAm class on the Ferrari 488 GT3 with the starting number 333.

On Friday, the free practices took place. For Alexander Mattschull it was the first time on this circuit. So on Friday, he had time to adapt himself to the track and to collect some kilometers.

On Saturday morning, Alexander Mattschull started the first qualifying. His lap times were good and he reached the first position in the ProAm class. In the second qualifying, it was the turn of Daniel Keilwitz. Unfortunately, in the last minutes, the session was stopped by a red flag and was not resumed. So, Keilwitz did not have time to improve his lap time. At the end, it was a position in the eleventh starting grid.

On Saturday afternoon, Daniel Keilwitz took over the start of the qualifying race. Already in the first laps, he gained some positions. After a very good pit stop, Alexander Mattschull got back on track as leader of the ProAm class. In the last lap, Mattschull was forced off the track by another car and for this reason, he lost the lead. At the end, he reached a good second position in class.

On Sunday afternoon, Alexander Mattschull started the main race in the Ferrari 488 GT3. Until his pit stop, he drove constant lap times. At the driver change, Daniel Keilwitz took over the steering wheel of the Italian racing car. Back on track, he was second in the class with a gap of five seconds on the class leader. While overtaking, a misunderstanding occurred with another car. Keilwitz hit him at the rear and the other car spun. Due to the following drive-through penalty, Keilwitz finished the race as fifth in ProAm class.

Michele Rinaldi: „This is not the result we hoped for. The Ferrari showed a good performance. The mechanics did a great job. At all pit stops, we could make up time on the competitors. But, we collect some points and we still keep the lead in the Sprint ProAm championship.“

The next event for Rinaldi Racing will be the Blancpain Endurance Series in Paul Ricard from the 23rd to the 25th of June. The team will be there with two Ferrari 488 GT3 for the Endurance Series and also one Ferrari 458 GT3 in the Blancpain GT Sports Club. Besides, Rinaldi Racing will compete together with the Wochenspiegel Team Monschau in the third VLN run.
