The German Team Rinaldi Racing is ahead of a thrilling task next weekend. After the squad around team manager Michele Rinaldi claimed a shining victory at the season opener of the Blancpain Endurance Series in Monza, the ambitious team now wants to repeat the success of Italy in the second round of the series. The venue of the next round of the popular GT endurance championship is the 5.9 kilometres long version of the traditional Silverstone Circuit.
It will not become an easy task for Rinat Salikhov, Marco Seefried and Norbert Siedler. After the gorgeous result at the season opener in Monza, the drivers of the only Ferrari 458 in the field have to start with an additional weight of 20 kilograms. “This additional weight will not be the only challenge for us”, so Marco Seefried. “Our Ferrari is quite sensible when it comes to changes in the ‘Balance-of-Performance’. Additionally we have to adjust the height of the car to a new minimum level and furthermore the Silverstone Circuit doesn’t really cope with our vehicle. Altogether it will become a great challenge.”
With about 60 cars in the starting grid team manager Michele Rinaldi expects a hard fight. “Silverstone will be a tough matter. The ‘Balance of Performance’ as well as a number of strong opponents will make things not easier for us”, explains Rinaldi, who nevertheless appears optimistically: “In Monza we have impressively proved that we have a good pace. Our goal is a top-10 finish and claiming as much points as possible. I feel confident that we can fight at the top. We are looking forward to the race.”
The second round of the Blancpain Endurance Series starts for the ambitious team Rinaldi Racing on Sunday, 03.45 pm. The qualifying, in which the starting grid for the race with a distance of three hours is determined, takes place on Sunday at 09:00 am.
