New directions for Rinaldi Racing
In 2022, Rinaldi Racing is breaking new ground and is focusing on various racing series with different cars.
Having successfully competed in various racing series in previous years, 2022 will be the first season for Rinaldi Racing in the European Le Mans Series. “We are very excited to be taking another step in Rinaldi Racing’s team history this year and to be competing in the highly competitive ELMS. It will definitely be exciting to see how our team will establish itself among the veteran racing teams,” said Michele Rinaldi, Team Principal. The ELMS entry list is 42 cars, with 13 competing in the LMGTE class, which will also feature Rinaldi Racing with two Ferrari 488 GTEs. Pierre Ehret, Nico Varrone and Memo Gidley will take on the new challenge in the #32 Ferrari. Christian Hook, Oscar Tunjo and Fabrizio Crestani will share the cockpit of the sister car with start number 33.
As in the last two years, Rinaldi Racing will also compete in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in 2022. This year, the entry list grew to a considerable number of 43 cars. A #66 Duqueine D08 LMP3 will be entered by Rinaldi Racing, with the other #11 LMP3 being entered by WTM Racing, who will be supported by Rinaldi Racing. Here, too, old familiar faces will be seen: Leo Weiss and Torsten Kratz will take their seats on the #11 and Steve Parrow and Daniel Keilwitz on the #66.
In addition to the Michelin Le Mans Cup, Rinaldi Racing will also lead WTM Racing’s entry in the Creventic 24H Series. The 12H Spa, the 24H Portimao and the 24H Barcelona are planned with the Ferrari 488 GT3 in the Wochenspiegel design with the starting number 22. At the 12H race Georg Weiss, Leo Weiss, Jochen Krumbach and Daniel Keilwitz will start. In the 24H race, they will be supported by Indy Dontje.
The newly developed series of the ADAC and Creventic – the Prototype Cup Germany – has attracted the interest of Rinaldi Racing and WTM Racing. “It’s great that there is now another race series for LMP3 cars. This gives teams the opportunity to race here in Germany as well,” explains Michele Rinaldi. Again, for WTM Racing, Leo Weiss and Torsten Kratz will share the number 11 car.
